Twitter has been experimenting with new notifications that show the users their most popular tweets in the Notifications tab in addition to mentions from well-known users.
According to The Next Web, the trial displays tweets that have received the most views in the users notifications tab.
In addition, there is a new button that reveals detailed analytics like the number of impressions and engagement counts.
There is also a new feature called 'noteworthy mention' that was possible highlighted because it came from a user who interacts regularly or because they are verified and have a large following.
A third notification type called 'Top Follow', informs the users of a prominent Twitter user that has just followed the users.
Twitter confirmed the tests in a statement saying they are experimenting with highlighting notable Tweets and activity in some verified users' notifications timelines. These are Tweets and activity they might otherwise miss due to the large volume of notifications these users tend to receive on a daily basis.
