Twitterverse on Wednesday marked the 79th birth anniversary of legendary Bollywood music composer RD Burman.

Remembering 'Panchamda' on his birthday, famous Indian novelist Ashwin Sanghvi took to his Twitter handle and wrote, "Celebrating the man who breathed life into lyrics with his unforgettable music. #RDBurman #HappyBirthday, Pancham da"

An ardent fan of the yesteryear composer tweeted, "Happy Birthday #RDBurman ?? Thank you for your tunes and your songs which have stood the test of time, and continue to enthrall generation after generation ?? "

"We remember Rahul Dev Burman, Bollywood music director, on his birth anniversary. Fondly known as Pancham Da, he was a maverick and a genius who changed Hindi film music forever. #RDBurman #Panchamda ," another fan wrote.

Meanwhile, an admirer of the late music composer revealed that it is because of 'panchamda' songs that she survives family gatherings.

"His songs are the reason I survive my family gatherings Greatest musician of all ? #RDBurman #Panchamda," she wrote.

RD Burman, the only son of famous music composer Sachin Dev Burman, is considered to be one of the greatest composers to have ever lived in the country.

Right from the 1960s to the 90s, Burman composed music for 331 films. He was mainly active in the Hindi film industry as a composer, who also provided vocals for a few compositions.

Majority of his work was with his wife, Asha Bhosle and Mohammed Rafi.

Despite being the foundation for numerous budding Bollywood music directors, he only received three Filmfare Awards, one of which was awarded posthumously for '1942: A Love Story'.
