Forest officials have arrested two persons, including a forest guard and recovered a tiger skin from them here.

The arrested persons have been identified as Abdul Jalil and Kasem Ali. They were arrested from the Kohora region of the Kaziranga National Park. Forest officials said that a third accused is on the run.

"We came to know from our sources that a tiger has been poisoned in the hills of Karbi Anglong district. We have got some information about the suspects. It is preliminary inquiry right now. We will be able to give you details sometime later," said the Assistant Conservator of Forests, Bagori Range, Kaziranga National Park, Pradipta Baruah.

The national park has registered the death of 16 tigers due to natural reasons since 2011. While six tigers had died of natural causes in 2011, four died in 2012, five in 2013 and one in 2014.
