Two contract labourers were killed and seven others seriously injured when molten iron accidentally fell on them at the Burnpur IISCO Steel Plant in West Bengal's Burdwan district on Saturday.

While two workers died on the spot, the injured were admitted to two hospitals.

The Indian Iron and Steel Company (IISCO), a Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL) subsidiary, was amalgamated with the latter on February 16, 2006 and renamed IISCO Steel Plant (ISP). This full-fledged integrated steel plant is one of India's oldest.
