Two Lashkar-e-Taiba militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district on Sunday.
The encounter started when militants hiding in a house in Nowpora village fired upon the security forces who had launched a search operation following information about presence of militants there.
Two AK 47 rifles, two magazines and two pistols were recovered from the slain militants.
Deputy Inspector General, South Kashmir, Vijay Kumar, informed that the militants were killed after a gun battle.
"Army, police and two battalions of CRPF 90th and 18th battalion cordoned the building and the militants started firing during the search operation. After they retaliated, we suspended the operation for a while and asked the militants to surrender. Since no one surrendered, we resumed the operation during which the building was busted and two local LeT militants have been killed," he said.
