A two-year-old girl, who was kidnapped by a man near the Hyderabad High Court on Wednesday, was rescued by the Charminar police in Guntur. The police have also arrested the kidnapper.
The parents of the kidnapped girl sell tea near the High Court premises. The girl plays near the court premises while the couple sells tea. After the girl went missing at around 10 am yesterday, her father informed the police about it.
"Yesterday, when they were selling tea, the girl was playing nearby. At around 10 a.m.,they found that the girl was missing after which they evn searched their home and couldn't find her. The missing child's father, Vishnu, informed us about the incident," Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) K. A. Chakravarthy said.
The police acted swiftly in the matter and immediately examined the footage of the CCTV cameras installed in the court premises.
"In the footage, we saw the girl being taken away by a man from gate number 4. We took the footage and showed it to the people neart the court area. One of the typists who sit near the court identified the person and told that the man comes from Guntur regularly. He also gave us the culprit's phone number. Using the phone number we located that man's location," he said.
The police used the phone number of the culprit to narrow down his location, which was found to be in Guntur. The police dispatched four teams to Guntur and nabbed the culprit, thereby freeing the girl.
"We formed four parties and rushed towards the spot where the girl was located. We went to the culprit's, whose name is Hanumant Rao, and nabbed him. We have taken custody of the child," the ACP said.
