Two years after installation, tsunami warning system dysfunctional in Pakistan

ANI Islamabad

A tsunami warning system in Pakistan's Gwadar region has been non-functional since its installation two years ago.

The control of the system was given to the Met office in 2012 after it was installed in association with the United Nations, the Dawn quoted sources, as saying.

A met office building was recently constructed but it is not operational since there was only one official deployed. It also lacks basic requirements and facilities.

It seemed that the senior officials lack interest in building an efficient tsunami warning system.
