The U.S.-backed leader of the moderate wing of the Free Syrian Army has been fired by rebel commanders.
The move appears to be an attempt to revive the moribund rebel command ahead of a promised arrival of weapons.
According to the Washington Post, General Salim Idriss, who was anointed last year by Secretary of State John F. Kerry as the sole conduit for aid to Syria's rebels, was voted out of office by the 30 members Supreme Military Council.
He was replaced by Abdul-Illah al-Bashir, a little-known rebel leader from the province of Quneitra, the report added.
