A U.S. drone strike in Pakistan's tribal North Waziristan region has killed at least six militants near the Afghan border, said officials.
The operations in the region were targeting the compound of a strong Taliban leader, said officials.
A senior security official said that a U.S. drone fired two missiles that hit a vehicle and a compound in Alwara Mandi of North Waziristan, killing six militants.
Around 1,700 militants have been killed since the North Waziristan operation since June.
Pakistan has also stepped up its own operation against the Taliban after the Peshawar school massacre where 132 children were killed.
