American journalist Theo Curtis who was captured two years back in 2012 has been released from the custody of al-Nusra militants in Syria, said U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry.
Kerry said that the U.S. had been working with many countries to get him released. He added that the U.S. was grateful that Curtis has been finally freed.
The United Nations confirmed that the organization had facilitated his release.
Kerry's speech came after the death of another kidnapped U.S. journalist James Foley who was beheaded by Islamic State militants in Syria, reported the BBC.
Curtis had been reportedly kidnapped in Turkey on his way to Syria.
