U.S. tells Pak Dr. Aafia case not open to discussion

The United States has said Dr Aafia Siddiqui, a Pakistani-American imprisoned in the US for allegedly attacking American soldiers in Afghanistan, case will not be discussed as it is not open for discussion.

The comments were made by senior American officials as Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's visited the US to meet President Barack Obama.

According to Dawn News, at a special briefing for Pakistani journalists in Washington, the officials described the visit as 'historic', which kept Sharif 'unusually busy'.

One official said that Siddiqui case was not discussed in the meetings between the leaders, but Dr Afridi issue was raised in several meetings.

 

The official noted that President Barack Obama and other US officials and lawmakers had urged Sharif to release Dr Afridi.
