A court in United Arab Emirates (UAE) has sentenced an Indian man to death after it convicted him of raping a seven-year-old girl at an Abu Dhabi school to death.
A lower court in Abu Dhabi found the 57-eyard-old guilty of raping the girl at a school cafeteria where he was employed.
After raping, the man "threatened to kill" her if she reported the attack, family lawyer Hussein al-Jaziri said.
According to the Express Tribune, the lawyer said that the ruling will "give hope to the victim and her family that justice has been achieved".
Executions are rare in UAE, where death sentences are typically commuted to life in prison.
