Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday congratulated the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for its splendid victory in Maharashtra local body elections.
The BJP has emerged as the single largest party winning 851 seats in the Maharashtra municipal council polls conducted in 164 civic bodies which includes 147 municipal councils and 17 nagar panchayats.
The Shiv Sena stood fourth in the tally winning 514 seats, behind the Congress which won 643 seats followed by the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) which won 638 seats.
The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) bagged 16 seats, CPM won 12 seats, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) 9 seats and others won 708 seats.
