Nico Schulz scored a last-minute winner as Germany survived Netherlands fightback in Amsterdam to earn a hard-fought 3-2 victory in Group C of Euro 2020 qualifying tournament on Sunday (local time).

Germany's coach Joachim Low named a team without a striker but goals from Serge Gnabry and Leroy Sane enabled the team to earn a 2-0 half-time lead.

Memphis Depay recorded a goal and an assist as the Netherlands staged a stunning comeback after the half-time mark, levelling the scoreline at 2-2 at the Johan Cruijff Arena.

Both the teams looked set to get one point each from this fixture as the score was tied at 2-2, but Germany's Schulz provided the team with the last minute winner, allowing the Germans to take all three points.

German substitutes Ilkay Gundogan and Marco Reus combined to free Schulz and he was able to capitalise on the opportunity, sparking a remarkable win for the team.

Low's decision to drop World Cup winners like Thomas Muller, Mats Hummels and Jerome Boateng raised eyebrows, but the way the team approached the first half indicated the faith that is being shown in the younger lot.

Netherlands face England in the Nations League semi-finals on June 6 whereas Germany are away to Belarus and at home to Estonia in a double-header of qualifiers in the same month.
