The UEFA European Championships could be expanded into a huge rival to the World Cup by inviting outside teams to compete, and the likes of Brazil, Argentina, Japan and Mexico could be given the opportunity to play at EURO 2020.
According to SportsMole.co.uk, a senior adviser to UEFA president Michel Platini revealed that plans were at an early stage but were very feasible and suggested that were was no reason Europe could not copy South America's showpiece Copa America in inviting teams.
A revamp for the continental tournament would see sides from other continents invited to take part, the report said.
Meanwhile, England has expressed an interest in staging the semi-finals and final of the proposed pan-Euro tournament in 2020, the report added.
