Ukraine and pro-Russia separatists have reportedly agreed to hold fire across the eastern war zone on December 9 under the terms of a truce deal brokered by Kremlin.
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said that Kiev has taken measures to ensure the implementation of the Minsk Agreement concerning a Day of Silence that is scheduled to begin on December 9, reported News 24.
A source in Poroshenko's office was quoted as saying that the statement meant Ukraine would start to withdraw heavy weapons from the war zone on December 10, as long as the rebels also observed the truce.
The conflict in eastern Ukraine has killed 4300 people and disrupted Moscow's relations with the West who accuses Russian President Vladimir Putin of supporting and arming separatists in the area.
Putin however, has denied any links to the separatists and has termed the slew of economic sanctions imposed on the nation by the U.S. a pretext for toppling his increasingly nationalist regime.
