A senior Russian officer has said that a Ukrainian military jet may have attacked the MH17 aircraft that had been flying only a few kilometers away from the Malaysian Airlines MH17 before it crashed down.

Andrei Kartopolov Lieutenant-General raised a question that why the military jet was flying at the same altitude and time as a passenger plane.

Kartopolov also said that Ukraine's claim that no military jet had been flying was false.

He also denied that Russia had supported the separatists in Eastern Ukraine.

Russian officials say that they have proof of the Ukrainian jet's presence in the images while they have also urged U.S. to release the satellite images of the crash.

According to the U.S. authorities, a missile was launched by the Russian separatists in Eastern Ukraine.
