UN chief monitoring Indo-Pak border situation

United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has urged restraint on the part of the Governments of India and Pakistan with regard to the situation the border dividing the two nations, and aded that he is keeping a close watch on the situation at the border after the recent upsurge in violence.

According to the Dawn, UN spokesman Stefane Djuarric said they continue to monitor the situation, as there were reports of escalating violence along the Line of Control between India and Pakistan.

Earlier, Ban urged the governments of both countries to exercise maximum restraint and take all feasible steps to ensure civilian safety.

 

Tensions have increased between India and Pakistan after the NSA-level talks were called off last month.
