The United Nations Security Council has termed the Ebola outbreak in West Africa a "threat to international peace and security".
Addressing an emergency meeting of the council, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon warned that the number of people infected by the Ebola virus was doubling every three weeks, reported the BBC.
The council unanimously adopted a resolution calling on states to supply more resources to fight the epidemic.
The worst Ebola outbreak on record has claimed the lives of 2,600 people.
