United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Thursday applauded China's role in solving the on-going Korean Peninsula issue on the sidelines of Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) conference, to commence from Sunday.
As per China's state-owned media agency, the Xinhua News Agency Guterres highlighted the recent visit of North Korea's Kim Jong-Un to China to assist the talks regarding denuclearisation of Pyongyang.
"I think China has an absolutely key role in this", Guterres said.
While noting a sense of distrust between the United States and North Korea, Guterres said the presence of China can be an absolutely decisive factor for a peaceful denuclearisation of the peninsula.
Guterres further called for an 'open dialogue' with the US to ensure successful denuclearisation process.
The BFA conference will be held between April 8 and 11 at Boao, China on the theme 'An Open and Innovative Asia for a World of Greater Prosperity'.
