The United Nations will continue to support Afghanistan until peace and stability is restored in that country, an official said.
During an event in Kabul to mark the UN's 70th anniversary, the UN Secretary General's Special Representative to Afghanistan, Nicholas Haysom, said the organisation will not abandon the people of Afghanistan till their security from extremist groups is ensured, the TOLONews reported.
The United Nations will stay in Afghanistan as long as it takes to fulfill the desires of the people for a stable and prosperous Afghanistan, he added.
Recently, the United States and the United Kingdom have announced to continue to keep its troops in Afghanistan due to recent advances made by the Taliban in the country.
