Una incident: Rajnath defends Gujarat Govt. in LS

Addressing the concerns of the opposition, Union Home Minister on Wednesday defended the Anandiben Patel-led Gujarat Government and said that it acted swiftly against those involved in Dalit atrocities in Una.

Speaking during the Zero Hour in the Lok Sabha, Singh said the incident, which took place on July 11, is unfortunate and condemnable.

He said that the FIR was registered, adding nine accused were arrested in the case and four police officers were suspended.

Singh also said that this matter has been handed over to the CID for speedy probe.

The Home Minister said the Gujarat Government is taking up the matter for setting up of a Special Court with the High Court for speedy trial of the case.

 

Singh said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed pain over the attack.

He further said that Rs. four lakh have been announced as ex-gratia, out of which Rs. one lakh have been paid to the victims.
