The international cricket career of Premier New Zealand spin bowler Daniel Vettori is reportedly still under an injury-darkened cloud after it was confirmed that he would not be considered for the upcoming series against India.

Vettori, who is struggling through his T20 Big Bash contract in Australia with a worsening back injury that required three painkilling injections recently, faces a crunch meeting with New Zealand coach Mike Hesson and captain Brendon McCullum at the end of this month to discuss his international future.

According to Stuff.co.nz, despite an encouraging comeback from a surgery on an Achilles heel this season, Vettori is said to be seriously considering his international future, with Hesson saying that the veteran player wants to come back from Australia and see how his body is then.

Although Vettori's long-stated goal was to bow out at 2015 World Cup and remains a trump card for his team in limited overs cricket, it however, seems the latest in a long line of injuries has Vettori thinking hard about retirement, the report added.
