You may want to rethink before deleting that annoying co-worker from Facebook as according to Fair Work Commission, unfriending is workplace bullying.
Employers around the country will be scrambling to update their social media policies after a decision by the workplace tribunal found unfriending someone on Facebook can constitute workplace bullying, News.com.au reported.
The ruling follows a dispute between two women at a real estate firm in Tasmania.
What started as a disagreement over a lost house sale escalated into not saying good morning, a meeting where harsh words were spoken and then the unfriending.
The Fair Work Commission decided the act of 'unfriending' was evidence of 'a lack of emotional maturity and is indicative of unreasonable behaviour'.
The parties will hold discussions to decide what sort of anti-bullying order should be made.
