Unidentified miscreants kill youth in Manipur

Unidentified miscreants have struck again in Manipur, killing a young man and leaving his body in a car in which he was supposedly driving.

The incident is said to have taken place after an interval of more than two years, and police is claiming that suspect militants are involved.

The youth was shot dead inside a white Maruti Van bearing registration number AS-01P-9602.

The incident took place around 2.10 p.m. at Naran Konjin village, near the banks of the Chandranadi River, around ten kilometers north east of the Wangoi Police Station.

The deceased has been identified as Okaram Gyanendro Singh, the son of Mr. O. Achou Singh, a retired government employee. He hailed from Singjamei Okram leikai, and was plying on the Imphal-Moreh route.

 

Police said the car was hijacked by unidentified persons while returning from Moreh.

The victim was shot at least four times in the head near the banks of the Chandranadi River.

The car also bore three bullet marks.

The incident is being probed by Wangoi Police.

So far, no militant group has claimed responsibility for the killing.
