Union Cabinet approves package of Rs. 3,000 crore to 35 Naxal-affected districts

The Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Thursday approved a funding package of Rs. 3,000 crores to 35 Naxal-affected districts in the country for the purpose of security and development of the areas.

The funding has been approved under a special central government help scheme. The package will bring great relief in the Naxal-hit areas of Chhattisgarh.

Chattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh thanked the Prime Minister for the package.

The Forest Minister of Chattisgarh, Mahesh Gagra, and the Cabinet Minister of Tribal Affairs and Scheduled Tribes, Kedar Kashyap, also thanked Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Singh for this much-needed fund.

 

Gagra said, "South Bastar, Dantewada, Sukma are worst Naxal hit regions in the state. Under the Chief Ministerialship of Raman Singh, various educational, health facilities have been estabilished in such areas. The educational city in Sukma and Dantewada is a prime example."

Kashyap asserted that the package would be the most beneficial for regions like Narayanpur Kondagaw, Jagdalpur, Kanker in the state.
