The Union Cabinet on Wednesday paid homage to the victims of Assam militant attack, in which 33 people were killed by the banned outfit National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) in Kokrajhar and Sonitpur districts of the state.
Thirty-three people were killed on Tuesday evening in attacks by NDFB in Kokrajhar and Sonitpur districts of Assam, following which indefinite curfew has been imposed in five areas of Sonitpur district.
According to reports, the state Home department has instructed the administration of all the districts to remain alert.
The world heritage site, Manas National Park has also been closed for three days in a bid to intensify operation against militants.
President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh have also condemned the attack.
Rajnath Singh will also be visiting the state later today, in order to take stock of the situation.
