Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Smriti Irani has urged artisans and beneficiaries of Jan Shikshan Sansthans (JSSs) to further promote the concept of Jan Dhan Yojna to ensure greater economic empowerment.
She was speaking after inaugurating the KRITI Exhibition 2014 here that has been organised as a part of the International Literacy Day-2014 celebrations.
"JSSs offer a unique combination of culture, vocational training and education. JSSs in consultation with concerned officials of Ministry of Human Resource Development should fix for themselves the target of 'Jan Dhan Yojna' for economic empowerment of their beneficiaries," said Irani.
A cultural programme was also staged. Around 250 JSSs from all over India are participating in the exhibition and 24 JSSs have been identified as nodal JSSs for the display of products made by their beneficiaries. Artisans of JSSs also gave a live demonstration of their skills.
KRITI Exhibition 2014 will remain open for the public from September 6 - 8, 2014 between 10.30 am and 7.30 pm at Dilli Haat, INA, New Delhi.
