England batsman Ian Bell, who acted as skipper in place of Alastair Cook in his side's two-day warm-up in Alice Springs, has downplayed his side's another limp effort in Australia against a Chairman's XI side and said that the match had been important for an opportunity to 'regroup' away from a capital city.
Despite Graeme Swann's 4-56 and fellow tweaker Monty Panesar 3-41, another inept performance from the tourists' pacemen was the talking point of their 42-run first-innings loss which finally petered out into a draw in Alice Springs a week after a humbling defeat in the first Ashes Test.
According to News.com.au, however, Bell appeared unworried over the result, saying that the players had 'regrouped', discussed about their first Test loss and also practised on improving their moves at Alice Springs, away from the hustle and bustle of the big cities.
Stating that they are now ready for the Adelaide Test, Bell also said that a number of players from their team were rested for the warm-up which gave them some time ahead of the second Test, adding that they are looking forward to adding to their good memories at Adelaide.
