The Food and Supply department on Monday conducted a raid on a snacks manufacturing factory for allegedly using illegal ingredients in their products.
According to reports, the raiding team recovered animal bones, which the factory was allegedly using as an ingredient in their biscuits. During the raid, the officials also found children below the age of 14 being employed by the factory.
"We conducted the raid based on some inputs. We have recovered heaps of bones and found children below the age of 14 years working," city magistrate A K Srivastav said.
"This is a matter of investigation, but it is clear that [the factory was not working] as per the established food standards," he added.
Officials have sealed the factory and have sent food samples to the laboratory for analysis.
