In a latest incident showing deteriorating law and order in the Uttar Pradesh, a police constable was shot dead by unidentified men for reportedly refusing to give them water for consuming alcohol, here on Wednesday night.
The constable, Sudesh Yadav (32), was stationed at the Banthala police outpost in Loni along with one other policeman when he was shot.
According to the police, the accused were a part of a marriage procession passing through Loni area of Ghaziabad.
SSP of Ghaziabad Dharmendra Yadav said few shells have been recovered and few suspects have been arrested and are being questioned.
"The culprits will have to pay a high price for this. We will take strict action against them," he added.
