Five people died after consuming spurious liquor in Unnao district of Uttar Pradesh on Sunday.
Two persons admitted to hospital are said to be in serious condition.
Among the deceased, one person had died yesterday night in Nemhar village, but by morning the death toll rose to five.
Villagers have alleged that the local police has a nexus with the makers of the spurious liquor.
This is the third instance of people losing lives after consuming spurious liquor in Unnao in recent times.
