Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday said that new sugar mills will soon be set up and the present ones will be revamped and modernised to help the sugarcane farmers in the state.
Adityanath, who was addressing a gathering in Gorakhpur, also announced that a new sugar mill would be set up in the district in a span of one year.
Adityanath took potshots at former Samajwadi Party (SP) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP)-led state governments, saying, "The shutting down of sugar mills created disappointed among people as SP and BSP governments sold those mills."
"Cases are still underway against people involved in selling sugar mills. 21 sugar mills were sold in negligible amount. People selling sugar mills are enemy of farmers and development. But this UP Government will not sell any sugar mill, we will rather make new one and renovate, modernise the old," he added.
He also that that the state government has asked the sugar mills to pay all dues to the farmers before the new crop season starts.
"For the rights of farmers, the Uttar Pradesh Government will do every possible thing," Adityanath further said.
