The Congress Party on Wednesday said that after the announcement of their alliance with the Samajwadi Party for the upcoming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, the details regarding the same would be announced in 48 hours.
"We have announced our alliance with Samajwadi Party and we will also announce the details regarding seat allotments or if any other party joining hands with us in 48 hours," Congress leader Meem Afzal told ANI
Commenting on Sheila Dikshit's decision to withdraw her name as Uttar Pradesh chief ministerial candidate, Afzal said: "Sheila Dikshit has shown her modesty by withdrawing her name but the party will take decision on it sincerely after 48 hours."
Putting all the speculations to an end, senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad yesterday said that his party would enter into an alliance with the Samajwadi Party for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls under the leadership of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.
Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav also confirmed that the party will lock itself in a pre-poll alliance with the Congress.
Meanwhile, Sheila Dikshit, who was named as the chief ministerial candidate for Uttar Pradesh polls, withdrew her name, stating that there cannot be two chief ministerial faces in case of an alliance in the politically crucial state.
