UP: Stray dog injures 26 people in Rampur

At least 26 people were attacked by a stray dog in Rampur district of Uttar Pradesh on Thursday.

In the early hours of Thursday morning, when the fog had engulfed the region and lowered visibility, the dog attacked as many as 26 people near the Rampur fort area, following which the injured had to be admitted to a hospital immediately.

District administration officials were pressed into action and held the stray dog. "A large number of people were injured due to the dog bites. The dog was captured and the situation is under control," said OP Tiwari, city magistrate of Rampur.

While the victims were undergoing treatment at a district hospital, the sudden rush of their relatives caused heavy disorder at the hospital.

 

"After we reached the hospital, the situation was grave.Anti-rabies injections were not provided by the hospital administration. We had to buy themselves," claimed a victim's relative.
