Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that he would ask the Parliament to consider reintroducing the death penalty.
Erdogan said that he was "convinced" of the proposal getting approved to punish those behind July's failed military coup.
The Independent quoted him as saying in a speech in Ankara, "Our government will take this [proposal on capital punishment] to parliament."
"I am convinced that parliament will approve it, and when it comes back to me, I will ratify it," he added
Erdogan had earlier said that he would be approving the return of the death penalty in Turkey if that was what the people and Parliament wanted.
