The United States has reduced its emergency personnel deployed in the security agencies of Yemen, in the wake of what it perceives to be a real and serious threat from the Al Qaeda group based in the Arabian Peninsula.
Politico quoted White House Press Secretary Jay Carney as saying this.
Earlier, the Washington had announced that 19 U.S. embassies in the Middle East and North Africa will remain closed for full week.
Carney said that according to the information that they have, Washington has been taking precautionary steps to ensure that the security of their personnel deployed in missions in the Arab region and in other parts of the world.
He has, however, stated that Al Qaeda is a far less significant threat than it was before.
