The decision came after a day the US District Judge Bernard Friedman repealed a ban on gay marriages in Michigan.
According to the New York Times, while the same-sex marriages were immediately halted post the temporary injunction, the court said that it will decide on Wednesday whether to grant a longer injunction while it considers an appeal filed by Michigan's attorney general.
Meanwhile, following the injunction, gay couples, who married soon after the ban was quashed a day back, are now stuck in a legal limbo.
