The US Department of Defence has said that it will not conduct counter-terrorism operations against the Taliban in Afghanistan anymore as it considers the latter a key partner in restoring peace in the war-ravaged country.
According to the Dawn, Pentagon spokesman Navy Captain Jeff Davis said that they were not doing counter terrorism operations against the Taliban.
The briefing by the spokesperson however focused on defeating Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in the Middle East.
A Pentagon official said the United States was working "very extensively" with the Pakistani government in the fight against terrorists.
