US Deputy Secretary of State asks Pak to destroy N Waziristan terror sanctuaries

US Deputy Secretary of State William J. Burns, during his meeting with top Pakistani civil and military officials in Pakistan, reportedly asked them to destroy terrorist sanctuaries located in North Waziristan.

Burns held meetings with Advisor to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, special assistant to the prime minister Tariq Fatemi and Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif during his visit to Pakistan.

Sources have revealed that Burns conveyed the message of the US that the North Waziristan operation should be completed before the installation of the new political administration in Kabul.

A Foreign Office spokesperson said that in course of the meeting, the two sides discussed Pakistan-US bilateral relations and regional issues, including Afghanistan, the report added.
