Bids are being accepted on American gangster Al Capone's treasure trove of correspondence, photos, medical documents, including eye charts.

According to the website of RR Auction House, the cache includes a signed photo of Capone, private medical correspondence, which sheds light upon his fight with neurosyphils, exchanged by the doctors - charged with the mobster's late-life care - and a reportedly rare handwritten letter in which Capone requests his doctor for 2 boxes of red pills for bowels movement, Fox News reported.

The materials for sale were in the possession of Florida physician Kenneth Phillips, who along with Dr. Joseph Moore of Baltimore, fought to forestall Capone's death.

Four bids have been submitted so far, with the most lucrative bid thus far quoted at 12,100 dollars.
