American golfer Ryan Moore has reportedly won the storm-hit CIMB Classic in Malaysia on Monday by defeating his compatriot Gary Woodland in a playoff.

The two Americans, who were tied on 14-under-par after four rounds on Sunday, were forced to wait overnight for the playoff after tournament organisers ran out of time and daylight because of lightning delays.

According to Sport24, the four-year-old tournament was an official PGA Tour event for the first time.

Crediting a four-week break spanning September and October for his win, Moore said that he and his coach looked at their PGA Tour statistics to work on his game, adding that the break gave him the chance to win the tournament.

The report mentioned that Moore earns 1.26 million dollars, a guaranteed place in next year's Masters and a two-year PGA Tour exemption.

The tournament attracted the biggest names in its history including Major winners Phil Mickelson, Keegan Bradley and Ernie Els but only Bradley finished in the top ten, taking 10th spot, the report added.
