A federal grand jury investigation is being done on the company that conducted the most recent security review of former US spy agency contractor Edward Snowden.

According to News24, Federal prosecutors and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are investigating whether USIS, a US government contractor, rushed its cases without doing a proper review, which would be a violation of the False Claims Act.

An FBI spokesperson declined to comment on the issue, while a spokesperson for the Justice Department had no immediate response to an inquiry about the grand jury probe, the report said.

Snowden, who as a US National Security Agency contractor had undergone a USIS security review in 2011, is facing US espionage charges after disclosing details of secret US surveillance programmes, the report added.
