United States President Barack Obama has said that his country is 'intensifying' its campaign against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in northern Syria.

According to BBC, Obama has said that the US will not send additional troops to Syria but will increase support to the nation's moderate opposition.

Obama claimed that "an effective partner on the ground" was required to crush ISIS.

However, he warned that the campaign against ISIS would "not be quick".

On Monday, ISIS reportedly regained control of a town near the group's de facto capital of Raqqa in Syria.
