The Pentagon has reportedly said that they are investigating claims that a cache of weapons dropped by the United States-led coalition for Kurdish militiamen have been seized by the Islamic State (IS).

A video released by a media group loyal to the IS showed a cache of weapons including hand grenades, ammunitions and rocket-propelled grenade launchers. Their claims matched up with those of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights which said that the militants had seized at least one such cache, reported Fox News.

Pentagon spokesman Rear Adm. John Kirby said on Tuesday that they could not confirm the authenticity of the video but are looking into the claims. He emphasized that the "vast majority" of weapons ended up in the right hands.

A total of 28 bundles were dropped and 27 were received by Kurdish forces, the report said.

The military supplies were airdropped by the U.S.-led coalition in the Syrian town of Kobane on Monday.

The key Syrian town located on the border between Turkey and Syria has been witnessing intense clashes between the IS and the Kurdish forces over a month now. The U.S.-led coalition is aiding the Kurdish soldiers on ground by targeting the militants from the air.
