Top US jazz musician Horace Silver, who has been described as one of the most influential musicians in the history of jazz passed away at the age of 85.
Silver was one of the pioneers of a rhythmic jazz style known as hard bop, the BBC reported.
Stanley Clarke, a bass player, tweeted that he enjoyed so much the time that he spent with Silver and he was the greatest bandleader.
Presenter Jez Nelson of BBC Radio 3's Jazz on 3 tweeted that RIP Horace Silver. He was a sweet man and a great writer.
The American musician began his career as a tenor saxophonist in clubs in Connecticut.
