A Spotsylvania County plumber broke two world records as he caught a 17-pound, 6-ounce northern snakehead, which is officially the biggest ever caught, according to the International Game Fish Association.

Caleb Newton made the catch while on a bass fishing bachelor party on the Potomac River with the help of a friend on June 1, the Washington Times reported.

The 27-year old plumber made two world records: one for the biggest northern snakehead and another for a snakehead catch using a 20-pound fishing line, breaking an earlier record of 17-pound, 4-ounce snakehead caught in Japan in 2004.

The world-record coordinator for the Florida-based association confirmed the news.

The snakehead, commonly called a 'Frankenfish' is due Virginia state recognition.
