The US State Department has reportedly announced that it has nothing to report on a protest note from Pakistan over the killing of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) leader Hakimullah Mehsud in drone strike carried last week.

Pakistan summoned US Ambassador Richard G. Olson to the Foreign Office to formally protest the attack, which is seen damaging the country's efforts in resolving the longstanding issue of terrorism through peace talks.

However, State Department's deputy spokeswoman Marie Harf revealed that she had no specifics about communications to read out and underplayed TTP's threat to cut off NATO supply lines from November 20, Dawn reports.

Harf said that Mehsud and his associates were involved in the failed Times Square bombing and in killing seven Americans in Afghanistan, and thus, posed direct threat to the US national security interests.

According to the report, the State Department spokeswoman further said that Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's recent visit to the US was 'very productive' and President Barack Obama had stressed on America's strong commitment to the people of Pakistan and despite tensions, the goodwill between the two nations will continue.
