The United States Supreme Court has thrown out a Republican-led legal challenge, preserving the Obamacare law that came as a victory for President Barack Obama's health care reforms.

According to BBC, the court ruling said, in a 6-3 decision, the tax subsidies that make health insurance affordable can continue.

Obama considers Obamacare a major part of his presidential legacy.

Obama said that they are not going to "unravel what has now been woven into the fabric of America" and that they have more work to do.

The case, known as King v Burwell, was the second major challenge the law has faced in the US' Supreme Court.
