A US teen was turned away from her high school prom as her dress apparently revealed excess cleavage.
Brittney Minder, a senior at Central Kitsap High School in Silverdale in Washington, wore a stunning purple, strapless dress that she got all the way from Canada especially for the event, ABC news reported.
Upon arriving at her senior prom this past Saturday, however, she was turned away at the door and told to put on a shawl.
Minder complied with the order, but only stayed for an hour, saying she felt humiliated.
The teenager told ABC News affiliate KOMO, that since she is bigger chested, there is more cleavage that can be seen, but there's nothing she could do about that.
According to the school's dress code, strapless dresses and those with spaghetti straps are permitted provided cleavage, midriff and lower back are covered.
But Minder's parents say the high school enforced the policy unfairly and want school officials to apologize.
Minder's mother Kimberly asserted that all women are not created equal, and one cannot compare a golf ball to a grapefruit, while her father insisted that a girl like his daughter should not have to go to a dance in a burlap sack just because she's large busted.
Minder claimed that her gown was in fact designed for a woman with a larger than average bust size.
Meanwhile the school district spokesman David Beil told the publication in an emailed statement that the school uses a dress code for students attending school dances and all students must agree to it by signing their name before they can purchase a ticket.
The school did not address the parent's request for an apology.
